Youth Services Commission

The Atlantic County Youth Services Commission's (YSC) mission is to plan and implement community based services and advocacy to reduce juvenile delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system.The Youth Services Commission is also designated to administer the State/Community Partnership Grant Program and develop a comprehensive plan for services and sanctions for juveniles adjudicated delinquent as well as programs for the prevention of juvenile delinquency.Some of the programs administered in the 2006 State/Community Partnership Program include:

  • Victim Impact Program
  • Electronic monitoring
  • High risk case management
  • G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training)
  • Client specific and multidisciplinary team services

Membership includes representation from a variety of sources, including the Juvenile Judge of Family Court, the County Administrator, the County Prosecutor; and other local representatives from local social service, police, mental health and youth providers. Detention Diversion and Aftercare Program Atlantic County Intergenerational Services - Detention Diversion and Aftercare Program assists the court in determining a more appropriate placement than the county juvenile justice detention center. The project coordinator has two functions: presenting an incarceration alternative to the judge due to the mental health problems, family dysfunction or other special needs of the youth; and also acts as chairperson of the Detention Review Committee which meets weekly to review juvenile offenders activity, present progress reports to court and other agencies.   For more information contact Curtis Still 645-7700, extension 4327 or still_curtis@aclink.org.
