Safety Program

In order to maintain a high level of safety on the range, each applicant, wishing to use the range, must show a certificate of safety training. Please refer to the general information sheet for acceptable pre-approved safety training certificates. For persons who have not had any type of training, courses are provided at the range.

For persons interested in using the archery area, a program has been developed using National Archery Association standards and is taught by NAA certified instructors.

For persons interested in the firearms ranges, the following NRA certified courses meet the safety requirement and are offered at the range:

First Steps Courses
(Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training)

Disciplines:

·Pistol
·Rifle
·Shotgun


Dates: Contact range office for upcoming dates.

Time: 3 1/2 to 4 hours.

Cost: $ 25.00 per person. Includes instruction, all training aids and range time. NRA certification.

Course: First Steps is a basic firearm orientation program for new gun owners. The program is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper operation of one specific firearm model. First Steps teaches the most basic shooting skills. It also provides a thorough introduction to firearm safety and handling.

These courses meet the safety training requirement for obtaining a range ID.

What you need to bring:

Eye Protection
Hearing Protection
Ammunition: at least 50 rounds for each of the firearms you plan to
shoot.
Dress for the weather.
