FIELD TRAINING OFFICER The Field Training Officer (FTO) Course is designed to train the potential FTO to mentor new officers. The program stresses five roles of the FTO, recruit training manuals, standard evaluation guidelines, the emulation process, daily observation reports, teaching techniques, liability, ethical issues, evaluator error, case law, remedial training procedures and a review of post-academy training.
