The Atlantic County Police Training Center sponsors the Alternate Route Training Program. The program permits individuals to enroll in a Basic Police Training Course without first being hired by a Police Agency. Graduates will qualify for a State of New Jersey Police Training Commission Certification. NEXT COURSE DATES: The course will be conducted April 24 through September 23, 2009. Applicants must meet the following minimum standards to be accepted into the program.
The Alternate Route Program is twenty-three (23) weeks in length and will require the candidate to attend classes Monday through Friday for the entire length of the program. The Alternate Route Program candidate is responsible for all costs associated with the program, approximately $3,500.00. How to Apply: Alternate Route Training Program space is limited. Applications must be picked up in person at the Atlantic County Police Training Center, 5033 English Creek Ave., Egg Harbor Township, NJ between the hours of 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM. A $50.00 fee is due at the time the application is picked up. Payment is accepted by money order ONLY, payable to: Atlantic County Treasurer. The application must be completed in full and returned at the time and place of the written examination which is scheduled for January 21, 2009 at 7 PM at the Police Training Center. Registration for the test is limited to the first 100 applicants. If you are successful in completing the first two phases of testing (written & physical), you will be scheduled for a personal interview. A list of successful candidates will be created based upon written test scores, and background checks will be completed on top candidates. Notification of pending acceptance to the police academy will be mailed out once the results of the medical and psychological examinations are received. Failure to complete any portion of the testing procedures on time, will result in your removal from the process.
