Atlantic County Offers Assistance in Completing PAAD Renewals
As a result of changes in the 2009 state application for prescription assistance for low-income senior citizens and individuals with disabilities through the Pharmaceutical Assistance for Aged and Disabled (PAAD) program, many current participants have failed to properly renew their annual application and may be at risk of losing their coverage.
The Atlantic County Division of Intergenerational Services would like to reassure such residents that its staff and counselors are available to assist them in completing and submitting their applications to avoid cancellation. Members who receive cancellation notices from the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services have 90 days to return their renewal applications to be reinstated and receive retroactive reimbursement of co-pays.
PAAD benefits must be renewed each year. The new application is more lengthy and may be more difficult for some to complete.
"Our counselors are available Monday through Friday to answer questions and help resolve any problems or issues related to Medicare," stated Marilu Gagnon, Director, Atlantic County Division of Intergenerational Services. "We also provide home visits for the homebound."
To contact a counselor, residents may call 1-888-426-9243 for information and assistance.
