After conducting more than one hundred interviews with local community and cultural leaders, the C.W. Shaver Company, a Manhattan-based cultural planning firm, presented its preliminary recommendations for an Atlantic City cultural action plan on Wednesday, November 28, 2001. The Shaver Company was retained over a year ago by a partnership of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Atlantic County and Atlantic City for the purpose of developing a community cultural plan to shape the future built upon the area's rich cultural history. In addition to personal interviews, the assessment included surveying existing facilities and programs, addressing long-term programming and financial issues and identifying major goals. Interested persons can still participate in this process and are invited to share their responses and recommendations. Click here to download the Preliminary Recommendations (pdf file).
