Patriot Golf Day at Green Tree Golf Course to Support Scholarships for Military Families

The Atlantic County Green Tree Golf Course will join other PGA-staffed facilities to participate in Patriot Golf Day during Labor Day weekend, September 4-7. Patriot Golf Day is a national fundraiser that supports the Folds of Honor Foundation's mission of providing post secondary educational scholarships for the children and spouses of military personnel killed or disabled while serving our country. Patriot Golf Day was initiated in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a F-16 pilot, PGA professional and US Golf Association member. Rooney asked golfers to add $1 to their Labor Day greens fees. His request resulted in donations of more than $3 million in its first two years which in turn provided more than 550 post secondary scholarships. County Executive Dennis Levinson encourages residents to support this worthy effort. "A donation of $1 is a small sacrifice in comparison to the sacrifices made by the brave men and women this event supports." Donations of $1 or more will be accepted at Green Tree Golf Course, 1030 Somers Point-Mays Landing Road, Egg Harbor Township on Friday, September 4 through Monday, September 7. "Golfers as well as non-golfers and veterans are welcome to contribute to this cause," added Levinson. "It's a great opportunity to enjoy a round of golf at our facility and make a difference in the lives of families that have sacrificed the most." Green Tree Golf Course is a regulation 18 hole, 5,450 yard course that is a challenge to the experienced as well as the novice golfer. The course is known for its tight, tree lined fairways and its excellent greens. A driving range is available as well as a golf shop, snack bar, lessons, junior clinics and practice green. Hours are from 5:30 AM until dark, however, the last greens fees will be sold no later than 6:30 PM.
