May Proclaimed as Poppy Month

Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson will present an executive proclamation to the President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Mainland Unit #81, on Tuesday, May 1 at 11 AM, declaring the month of May as Poppy Month in Atlantic County in memory of veterans who lost their lives to preserve freedom.

The presentation will take place at American Legion Post #81, 902 S. Main Street, Pleasantville.

Following World War I, the poppy was recognized as a memorial flower for the American war dead. The American Legion Auxiliary has pledged to use proceeds from the sale of paper poppies constructed by hospitalized and disabled veterans for the benefit of our nation's veterans and their families.
