The Atlantic County Division of Public Health has been forced to reschedule its remaining seasonal flu clinics due to the failure of the seasonal flu vaccine manufacturer to deliver its promised shipment of vaccine as originally scheduled. Click Here to read the entire Press Release. Seasonal flu shots are available to any resident 18 years or older for a fee of $15. Pneumonia shots are available to eligible residents age 65 and older for a fee of $25. There is no out-of-pocket fee for either shot for Medicare Part B recipients who present their Medicare card. This year, it is essential that people not only protect themselves against seasonal flu, but also the novel H1N1 (swine flu) influenza. Although a seasonal flu shot will NOT protect against the H1N1 virus, it will help to keep people healthier and reduce hospitalizations and visits to the doctor and emergency room. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the H1N1 vaccine is not scheduled to become available until late October. Please check with your physician and healthcare provider as to its availability. And check back to this site for additional information and updates.
