The Atlantic County Animal Shelter was developed as a regional response to the needs of local municipalities for an animal control shelter. It opened in October 1995. The Animal Shelter operates with a small staff and volunteers who help handle the care and feeding of the animals. Animals may be adopted by members of the public. The shelter offers educational programs. Schools and organizations are welcome to tour the facility and meet with the staff. Donations of pet food and supplies are greatly appreciated.

Our Mission
To provide love and compassion, in a healthy environment, to animals while attempting to reunite them with their owners, to educate the public on responsible ownership, and to facilitate successful pet adoptions while respecting and striving to improve the quality of life for both pets and people.

Hours of Operation:
The Animal Shelter is open seven days a week:

Tuesday, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
Saturday, Sunday, Monday 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

ShelbyJust wanted to let you know we are having a great time with Shelby.  She is making her self right at home, enjoying playing in our large back yard, taking walks and meeting all the neighbors (human and canine). Shelby is even great with my cats.  Bailey and Shelby are becoming great playmates.  Finally, he has someone to chase him around the yard and do circles around our picnic table again.  As I am writing this, she is laying down on the floor next to me. We all just got back from a short walk and she is all tuckered out.

Thanks again for introducing me to such an amazing dog! She is perfect!

FREE Rabies Vaccination Clinics

The next FREE Rabies Vaccination Clinic will be held Sunday, July 20 and Sunday August 3.

The clinics are held between the hours of 10AM to 12 Noon. NO APPOINTMENT IS NECESSARY. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier.

Residents are urged to vaccinate their pets early in the year through their local free rabies clinics which are generally held in the first quarter of the year in each town. This ensures timely compliance with municipal licensing requirements. Rabies clinics conducted at the Shelter are available for those residents who miss their town's clinic.

The Atlantic County Animal Shelter periodically holds FREE rabies vaccination clinics for cats and dogs. You may review the Atlantic County Events calendar for any upcoming Rabies Clinics or other events by clicking on THIS LINK.
