Find: This will allow you to search for a string in the data of the active layer.
Measure: This tool allows you to measure distances between 2 points in the units that the active layer is being viewed in. It gives both the total distance (between more than 2 points) and the current distance
Set Units: This can set the measurement units from miles to feet to meters or kilometers.

Buffer: To set up a buffer you must have an element of a layer selected. Once you select something from one layer you can create a buffer from another layer with in a certain distance in the units that you are using for the map.

Select By Rectangle: Use this tool to select data from the map in an area that is within the selection box.
Select by Line/Polygon: This tool allows you to select features by drawing a line across a group of data. Once you make your selection you can display the tabular data on the selected features.
Clear Selection: This tool clears the selections that have been made
Print: This tool allows you to create a title for the map, and then it takes you to a new browser window with the title and legend for your map allowing you to print from the new browser window.

Options: This tool gives you a list of options so that you may customize and modify your IMS experience.

Load Map Service: This tool gives you the list of the other map services available to load.

Extract: This tool allows you to save data layers (or portions of layers), as separate shape files in the form of a downloadable zip file (*.zip), to your local PC. You are then able to use these shape files with your or your company’s GIS.
