Services and Hints to get Started with Atlantic County IMS There are several different services available for you to view at the IMS Site. Some things to keep in mind while using the Atlantic County IMS site. Some layer and map services may take some time to load. There is a large amount of data being exchanged between your computer and our servers, sometimes this takes time. Download times will of course always depend on the speed at which you connect to the internet. Some layers require you to zoom into an area before they become visible. For example, when you are looking at the 1995 Smart Growth service you have to zoom in to be able to see the aerial photographs. There is no general pointer tool. To change from one tool to another you need to click on the new tool. Keep in mind that when you are exploring the data you still have the tool you originally selected to use. Services Currently Available on Atlantic County's IMS Site SmartGrowth – This service contains the 1995 Atlantic county smart growth analysis data along with the transportation features, water features and the 2000 aerial photography. In order to see the smart growth analysis you must make the layer visible and click on the refresh map button. You can not see the aerials through the smart growth analysis layer you must uncheck the make visible smart growth analysis layer to see the aerials. 2000 Aerials – This service contains just the 2000 aerials and the municipal boundaries. There are no other data layers associated with this service. Please note that these aerials were taken in March of 2000. There has been a significant amount of development since that time. Some things in the aerials may appear different than what they are today. OpenSpace and Recreation – This service contains several data layers depicting the Open Space and recreation in Atlantic County. It opens to show the Atlantic County owned parks, the municipal boundaries, the existing and proposed bicycle facilities and the golf courses in Atlantic County. You can make visible other data layers in the service while you are zoomed out to the whole county. Other data layers included in the open space and recreation service are the transportation and line features, the attractions, and open space. In order to see the aerials you must zoom in closer to the specific area you want to see. Keep in mind that when you have the open space layer turned on, you can not see the aerial under the layer where open space exists. Tax Parcels – The tax parcels service contains the layer having to do with the tax parcels. Included in this service are the municipal boundaries, the tax lots, the tax block labels, the FEMA Q3 Flood zone data, water features, wetlands, and the 2000 aerials. This is the service you would use to look at specific parcels of land and to investigate the wetlands on the parcel and flood zone indication. There are a few ways to get to the exact parcel you wish to investigate. One way is to use the query tool the query tool is explained in detail later in this document. The other way is to zoom into the area that you are looking in, and continue to zoom until you are able to make all the layers you need visible and then explore the data.
