Biography:
A lifelong resident of Atlantic County, Freeholder Jim Schroeder grew up in Mullica Township and currently resides in Port Republic. Jim served as a Councilman for Port Republic City for five (5) terms and served as Council President from 1991 to 2004. Jim was also a member of the Port Republic Planning Board for four (4) years prior to being elected to Council. A retired educator, Jim taught in the Egg Harbor Township School District. He served as Associate Director of Government Relations for the New Jersey Education Association for seventeen (17) years and as NJEA’s Director of Government Relations for five (5) years. In 2008, he was employed as a part-time aide and policy advisor for Senator Jim Whelan. A graduate of Rowan University, Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a Master of Arts in English. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from Rutgers University. Jim and his wife, Beverly have four grown children (Jim, Joe, Kathy and Beth) and five grandchildren (William, AJ, Angelena, Rocco and Bowen).
