Biography:  Alex has been an Atlantic County resident for more than 35 years having lived in Somers Point, Egg Harbor Township, and Galloway Township. Today, he resides in Linwood with his wife Bonnie (nee Todd), and three children. He earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Stockton State College, a master's degree in Education Administration from the University of Denver, and a certificate of advanced graduate study in Higher Educational Leadership from Widener University. He was elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders in 2011.
Presently, he is the Director of Operations for the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey’s two facilities in Atlantic City, the Carnegie Center and Dante Hall Theater. Additionally, he holds the title of Assistant to the Provost and Executive Vice President. Within this capacity he is working towards establishing an Arts District within the Ducktown section of Atlantic City, serves as lead principal for the college’s involvement with the Stop the Violence Coalition in Atlantic County and creation of a Municipal Planning Board in Atlantic City and Pleasantville. Alex is Co-Coordinator of the Lead Atlantic City Tomorrow (LEAD ACT) Program, a leadership training program for residents of Atlantic City (formerly known as Atlantic City Tomorrow {ACT}). Previous to these responsibilities, he held other administrative positions at Stockton, as well as taught a number of courses.
His civic and community involvement includes the Board of Directors for the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey in Atlantic County as a Vice President, the Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association (MBCA) as Co-Chair of the Scholarship Committee, Atlantic County Historical Society, South Jersey Cultural Alliance, and Jersey Shore Council of the Boy Scouts. For the past several years he has served as a head coach with the Mainland Youth Lacrosse Program. Also, he has coached a number of other youth sports.
Prior to his election to the Freeholder Board, Alex served on Linwood City Council from 2006 to 2011. As a member of Council, he was Chair of the Revenue and Finance Committee, and served on the Public Safety, Engineering, Shared Services, and Negotiations Committees. During his tenure, he led the City through a strategic planning process providing the vision for zero based budgeting, shared services with other communities, reducing the City’s operating expenses, and limiting the size of government.
