Mandatory Evacuation Lifted in Brigantine, Margate and Longport
Residents of Brigantine, Margate and Longport may return to their residences following Governor Christie's decision to grant a formal request by Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson to rescind the mandatory evacuation order for those towns that has been in place since last weekend. The other two barrier island communities are not yet ready to accept the return of residents due to unresolved public safety and public health concerns. Atlantic City is still under a boil water advisory and has many areas that remain without power and traffic signalization. Ventnor's sewer system incurred extensive saltwater flooding and is not operating at full capacity.
A curfew will remain in effect 6 pm - 6 am daily in all five barrier island communities until further notice as a protective safety measure.
