Storm Update - October 28, 12:30 PM
Sheltering operations continue. At this time Buena Regional High School shelter is full but Buena Middle School is available. And Pleasantville High School and Middle School remain available but are NOT accepting pets. Also ONLY those who require continuous medical attention will be accepted at St. Augustine Prep (medical needs shelter). All others will be directed to general population shelters.
Due to increasing and likely continuous tidal flooding with each tide cycle, Atlantic County will NOT be providing traffic diversion equipment on roadways. The concern is that protective barriers such as cones and barrels could become airborne or float away. Therefore it is extremely important for motorists to exercise EXTREME CAUTION on roadways. Motorists should not drive through flood waters. Turn around and go around.
Rt. 40 in West Atlantic City was reopened but is expected to flood again with next tide cycles and will again be temporarily closed for 1-2 hours at that time.
All inbound access to barrier islands will be restricted at 4 PM today. Outbound access will remain open until further notice.
