Teen Arts Academy: Visual Art Career & Portfolio Day

Teens who are considering continuing studies in the visual arts at the college level are invited along with their parents to attend a unique presentation on Saturday, November 17 in the Hammonton Art District that will feature area artists and college representatives with insight on careers in the arts, financial aid, college admissions and more.

This is the first in a series of Teen Arts Academy programs sponsored by the Atlantic County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, the Eagle Theatre, Stockton's Noyes Gallery and the Hammonton Arts Center. Artists scheduled to participate include Michael McGarvey in computer graphics, Kim Weiland in illustration and painting, Liz Wuillerman in photography, Paul Nurkowski in computer gaming, Suzanne Horvath in painting, and Robert Roesch in sculpture. In addition to opportunities to meet with professional artists and college officials, students may also request individual portfolio assistance.

Activities begin at 9 AM in the Eagle Theatre on Vine Street with breakout sessions in various venues throughout the Hammonton Art District. Pre-registration is required. Applications are available online at www.aclink.org/culturalaffairs.

For more information, contact Cynthia Mason Purdie, Administrator for the Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, at (609) 646-8699 x6314 or by email to cmasonpurdie@aclsys.org.
