Atlantic County Library System Hosts Digital Bookmobile National Tour Event
The Atlantic County Library System hosts the Digital Bookmobile, an immersive download experience on Thursday, October 15, 11 am - 5 pm at Atlantic County Library System/Galloway Township, 306 E. Jimmie Leeds Road. Readers of all ages are invited to engage in interactive demonstrations and experience the library’s audiobook and eBook download service at this free event. Visitors to the Digital Bookmobile may enter to win an MP3 player. Library card holders can also check out and download digital titles any time, anywhere by visiting www.atlanticlibrary.org/audiovideo or http://sjrlc.lib.overdrive.com.
"This is the only South Jersey stop for the Digital Bookmobile," said Library Director William Paullin. "Our customers have been the heaviest users of the South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative's Audiobook Consortium, and this visit is a great opportunity for them to have a broader experience with audiobooks."
The Digital Bookmobile is housed inside a 74-foot, 18-wheel tractor-trailer. The vehicle is a high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile and is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players, all of which help visitors explore the library’s download service. Interactive learning stations give visitors an opportunity to search the library’s digital media collection, use supported mobile devices, and sample eBooks and audiobooks.
Patrons can take advantage of the download service 24/7 when they visit the library’s website www.atlanticlibrary.org. From there, they can browse the growing collection of best-sellers, new releases, and classic titles, and check out a digital title with a valid library card. Once downloaded, digital titles can be enjoyed on a computer or transferred to supported mobile devices. Many titles can also be burned to audio CD. At the end of the lending period, typically seven to fourteen days, titles will automatically expire and are returned to the digital collection. There are never late fees or damaged items.
The Digital Bookmobile is a service of the Atlantic County Library System and the South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative and is operated by OverDrive, Inc. To check out and download digital books and more, visit http://sjrlc.lib.overdrive.com.
The South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative is part of the New Jersey Library Network whose services are funded by the New Jersey State Library, which is responsible for the coordination, promotion and funding of the NJ Library Network.
